About the Team

Our team name (BeAGain) has two meanings ‘be a gain’ and ‘begin again’.

For the 'be a gain', our effort helps humanity by using our technology.

For the 'begin again', we give disabled people courage and hope to help them live a new life.

Our team achieved 5th place in the 2020 CYBATHLON Competition, and we are striving for an even better result in the 2024 edition.

We have prepared for CYBATHLON with 3 major technologies:
1. muscle fatigue & asymmetric-motion compensation methods
2. ultra-lightweight smart bicycle for smooth riding
3. hip abduction compensator

About the Pilot

On 7 July 2016, Young Hoon Kim suffered a cervical spine injury due to a broken neck bone in a diving accident. "I have always enjoyed trying new things. Even after I was in a wheelchair, it was clear to me that I would continue to try new things and take on challenges," says Kim. Due to the functional electrical muscle stimulation, he was often exhausted at the beginning of the preparation period, but over time he could see that he was steadily improving. "We will realise our goal together, based on the efforts of the researchers developing the cycling system and my efforts to improve physical fitness."
